NHL 2012: Minnesota

Minnesota Wild

2011: For the Wild's 10th season, the teams comes out in new home and road uniforms. And guess what, they are matching! The red jersey has been modified, and a wheat version is created for the road. The green jersey remains the alternate.

2012: The Wild decide to "go green" and make their alternate jersey their home jersey. A matching white version is also introduced for the road. The alternate wheat jersey ends up being worn several times at home, with the road team wearing their dark jerseys. It is also worn often on the road, almost as much as the designated road jersey.

NHL 2012: Los Angeles

Los Angeles Kings

2011: The Gretzky-era colors are very popular among the fanbase, so the Kings wear the 3rd jersey at home and create a matching white version for the road. A retro alternate is also introduced...well somewhat retro anyway. The Kings bring back the gold they used on the 90's Burger King jersey and use it for their alternate jersey. It ends up being more of a mustard color. The crown logo is re-worked and used as the crest.

2012: Another alternate jersey is introduced, using purple, gold, silver, and black. A diagonal Kings script is used on the front.

Nighthawks Are Winners

The Omaha Nighthawks are a winning football team. They proved that Friday night with a close win against Hartford. It the UFL team's first-ever game, the Nighthawks won 27-26 on a game-winning touchdown with less then 10 seconds to go in the game.

Quarterback Jeff Garcia looked good leading his team for the first time. Running back Ahman Green also preformed well in front of his hometown crowd. Rosenblatt Stadium was packed, a sellout crowd of 24,000 on hand to be part of Omaha's new team.

Pittsburgh Steelers Uniform Concept

I started making some football concepts recently, and it is time to share them here.

Pittsburgh Steelers

I love the Steelers' current throwback alternate, but the home and road jerseys are classic. The objective here is simply to combine the looks into an acceptable set. I also wanted to balance the colors more. The striping design is simple, combining the two eras. I went back to gold block numbers, and added a white stripe to the pants to keep the colors balanced. I kept the logo on the front of the jersey, and the helmet is still supposed to have the decal on just one side.

And a modern alternate:

I originally had yellow helmets, but people wanted black...

Sabres New Jerseys Leak

The Buffalo Sabres will have a new road and new alternate jersey this season. The road is a white version of the home (previously their 3rd jersey). The new alternate is a tie to old time hockey in Buffalo.

I came across some images leaking the new jerseys. Enjoy!

And, they aren't too far off from my NHL 2012 Project...

NHL 2012: Florida Panthers

Florida Panthers

The Panthers uniform future is a bit of a mess. With much talk of the team possibly leaving Florida, the Panthers struggle to find a suitable identity.

2011: In an unexpected move, the Panthers wear their 3rd jerseys at home, with a matching white version on the road.

2012: The Panthers unveil another alternate jersey. This time, the jersey is back to the RBK Edge design, with some changes. Light blue has becoming increasingly popular among the fans, and it is used here. A new, modified panther logo is unveiled. As if all that wasn't enough, the Panthers unveil a throwback alternate jersey. It is based off of the team's original jerseys.

Game Day in Lincoln

There is absolutely nothing like game day in Lincoln, Nebraska. All eyes are on the Huskers. During Nebraska home football games, Memorial Stadium becomes the 3rd largest city in the state. People from across the state flock to Lincoln, and those back in their home towns are sure to watch or listen to the game. The atmosphere in Lincoln is incredible, and it is even better inside Memorial Stadium.

This season looks to be a promising one for the Cornhuskers. Sure, Suh is gone, but the defense is still strong. Hopefully the offense can come through. The Huskers hope to beat up one the Big 12 before leaving for the Big Ten. Nebraska opens today against Western Kentucky.

Oh by the way, the Huskers got new uniforms. Modified jerseys anyway. The common fan may not notice any difference, but a uniform nerd such as myself certainly does. The sleeve numbers have been moved to the shoulder, and the stripes have been adjusted slightly. The biggest difference is actually the collar. The Adidas logo is on a new red panel behind the collar, a completely new look for Nebraska. The new collar design is probably the most modern part of their uniforms.

PS- I really, really want to see the Huskers wear throwbacks again...
